USCCA BASIC HANDGUN | 4 HOURS
The primary goals of this course are to learn firearm safety and basic handgun shooting fundamentals, with self-defense focus. Topics include safe firearm handling, self-defense firearms basics, common malfunctions, and shopping for your first firearm. This course is ideal for first-time shooters or for those looking for a refresher to hone their skills. Up to one hour of live-fire training on the range is included.
Materials Needed:
- Minimum 50 rounds of ammunition.
- Unloaded and cased firearm – bring your own or use one of our rentals for free. Firearms WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN CLASSROOMS.
- Eye and ear protection – bring your own or purchase in-store.
- Classes are limited to the first 20 students.
A minimum of 5 students is required for a class to be held.
Class participants who are under the age of 21 must have a parent or legal guardian in attendance for the range portion of class. Parent/legal guardian must sign our Liability Waiver on behalf of the underage participant and must remain in the lane with them during the shooting portion of the class.
All Range Rules apply.
Cancelations/Reschedules: Classes must be canceled or rescheduled at least two days prior to the class date.
Canceled classes will be refunded to the original form of payment as long as cancelations are made within the cancelation policy.
ILLINOIS STUDENTS: A valid FOID card will be required to attend the range portion of this class. An Illinois resident without a valid FOID card may take part in the classroom portion only. In order to participate in the range portion, an Illinois resident without a valid FOID card must be the guest of a student in the same class who possesses a valid FOID card. Any Illinois resident who does not have a valid FOID card will not be permitted to purchase ammunition, or purchase or rent a firearm.

My wife and I both took this class. Very informative, instructor Tom was great. We learned the basics, plus. Would highly recommend the class!

Building confidence
I have some experience, but wanted formal training to build my confidence. Took this class at the new Ypsilanti location. Steve and Nate were great instructors, and I learned a lot about safety, mechanics & operation, and best practices. Also got a lot of great tips to improve accuracy and speed during range practice. My other classmate was a woman with zero experience, and I thought the instructors did a great job catering to her skill level as well.

Great class and great instructor
I took the class at the Naperville location and the instructor John C was great. He explained the basics and answered all the questions. Range time was amazing. It's better to take this class in person vs online because you actually put the info learned to use at the range instead of just listening.

Very Good Education and Real Firearm Use...
Mark Lane did a very good job teaching the basics of firearm safety which included awareness of your situation, status of the firearm, and how to insure it is safe to be around. We learned techniques on how to hold it, how to keep from inadvertently touching the trigger until ready to fire, how to hold it using the "isosceles" method, and what to do when a jam, misfire, or other malfunction occurs. Once this presentation ended those of us not owning a firearm selected one from the store to use on the range. And we could pick one that we wanted to try. At the range, Mark took us step-by-step through loading, holding, aiming, and firing the handgun. Also how to position on the bench it when not firing. I came away with respect for the firearm and how to use it. Thanks.

My wife and I took this course at the Naperville IL
Location and it was Great. We learned hand gun basic and safety and feel a lot more comfortable with hand guns. John C our instructor was a fantastic and patient teacher.
